- Abstract: We propose and investigate dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm with an adaptive polling cycle (DBA-APC) to
maximize the TCP throughput in an Ether passive optical network. DBA-APC is designed to overcome the limiting factors of current DBA algorithms, such as inefficient TCP throughput in the downstream and upstream directions. The algorithm is based on a polling cycle adjustment that considers bandwidth utilization and the round-trip time of the TCP. We analyze the performance of DBA-APC in a 10-Gb/s EPON and find that it provides high TCP throughput.
